Maid of Secrets by Jennifer McGowan
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Whew...so many secrets and spies at the royal court of Queen Elizabeth! She is new to her throne, and too many people want her to leave it.
Pickpocket Meg is caught in the act and forced to choose between the dungeons or becoming spy for the queen. Easy choice! Eventually her fellow trainees become her closest friends and they have to choose where their loyalties lie. No one knows who to trust--with good reason. Things are complicated, but Meg figures most things out, but leaves plenty of room for a book sequel.
