Review: The Other Americans
The Other Americans by Laila LalamiMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
I've been reading so much pop fiction lately that this book felt like a breath of fresh air--literary and made me think. Each short chapter is told from a different person's POV, but luckily the book jacket reminded me who a lot of the people were since I'm horrible with names. When a Moroccan-American restaurant owner is killed in a hit-and-run in his town by the Mojave desert, it's bit of a mystery. Was it murder or an accident? Secrets are exposed, and I loved the chapters from the POV of the man's daughter Nora. I'd read a whole book just based on her. Lots of wonderful subtle details in this book.

Unrealistic, but funny and relaxing to listen to! Struggling author is overheard discussing her next book and next thing she knows she's hired to kill someone's husband! Well, money is tight......so...... Finlay is a bit annoying, but we all know people like her, so it was a fun and entertaining audio.
