Review: The House at Sea's End

The House at Sea's End The House at Sea's End by Elly Griffiths
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love this series. Ruth becomes a mom in Book #3, and she tackles the constant guilt of trying to be a good mom and a woman who loves her job. I just love how non-American authors have imperfect main characters.

Review: From Blood and Ash

From Blood and Ash From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I see why this book one the Goodreads Choice Award for Romance--it's a great read and oh, so sexy! I'm not usually a paranormal fan but this world has werewolves and vampires (different names) and I didn't mind. The Maiden, Poppy, has been raised to ascend into something special to save her world, but she's never been allowed to live. She also doesn't know what will happen after she ascends--she receives letters once a month from her brother who already ascended, but has never seen him. It's a rough life--she's sheltered, yet abused by the important men in her fortress. So when the sexy Hawke shows up as a personal guard, things get heated. And she learns that her world isn't quite what she thought.
