Review: The Outside Boy

The Outside Boy The Outside Boy by Jeanine Cummins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Found this book at a friend's house and asked to borrow it, because, hello, Ireland! Set in the 1950's, it's not your typical coming-of-age Irish tale because young Christy is pavee--a traveler or tinker. He is coming to terms with his Catholic religion and their traveler set of ethics, as well as his lost mother. He's thirsty for knowledge about everything--his mom, his dead grandfather, his father's obtuseness, and even girls. Sweet, dramatic read.
