I love magical realism and Ireland so this book was a great combination for me. However, I had a difficult time keeping the characters straight--they seemed to run together, even with the chapters being labeled with their names. And I just didn't see the need for some of the things that happened in the book, especially toward the end. It's like there were too many twists and turns. I loved the spellbook, and the lost and found items disappearing and appearing. But I think it could have been told better with minus one or two teen characters to tighten the storytelling.
